Dolly Parton earned a place in cinematic history not just by starring as Doralee Rhodes in the hit movie 9 to 5 -- but also for writing the Oscar-nominated title tune. Now, Parton has written the entire score for the new Broadway-bound musical 9 to 5 -- which is getting its world premiere at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre on September 9. At a recent New York city rehearsal, TheaterMania spoke with Parton and the musical's three stars, Allison Janney, Megan Hilty (who plays Doralee), and Stephanie J. Block, and got a first listen at the cast (including Marc Kudisch as dastardly boss Franklin Hart) singing an expanded version of the now-famous number.
